Katy Jo Newman, a senior at Ethel High School, has been named the STAR Student for the 2023-2024 school year by the Mississippi Economic Council Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program.
Recognized for her academic excellence, Newman will be honored on April 4, 2024, at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl, Mississippi.
Each STAR student designates a STAR teacher. Katy Jo has selected Culley Newman as her STAR teacher.
The STAR program selects students based on ACT scores and scholastic averages, highlighting Newman’s commitment to academic success.
