Kosciusko native Sheri Biggs has won the race for South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District.

The Associated Press called the race for Biggs at approximately 7:17 PM central time.

As of this report, with 64% of South Carolina precincts reporting, Biggs (Republican) holds 71% of the vote over Democrat Byron Best (25%) and Mike Bedenbaugh (3%) of the Alliance Party.

Biggs graduated from Kosciusko High School in 1988. She’s a nurse practitioner and a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard.

This race was Biggs’ first run for political office and winning makes her just the second Republican woman South Carolina has sent to Congress.
