Officer Greg Culpepper has become the second member of the Kosciusko Police Department to complete Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). He finished the week-long program on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Lauderdale County training facility.
The specialized training, which included classroom instruction and role-playing scenarios, prepares officers to recognize and respond appropriately to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Culpepper will now work alongside Officer Brian Townsend, the department’s first CIT-trained officer.
“This training gives our officers the tools to de-escalate tough situations safely and compassionately,” said KPD Chief Greg Collins. “Having more CIT-trained officers on the street will make a real difference in how we serve and protect our community.”
