Kosciusko Police Officer Completes Crisis Intervention Training

In 2023, the Mississippi Legislature mandated that all county and municipal law enforcement agencies employ at least one Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) officer by July 1, 2025.

Kosciusko Police Department’s Brian Townsend recently fulfilled this requirement by completing a 40-hour training course with the East Mississippi Crisis Intervention Team.

The training equips officers to better handle crisis situations involving individuals with mental health challenges, hopefully improving outcomes for both law enforcement and the community.

Chief Greg Collins praised Townsend’s accomplishment, stating that it strengthens the department’s ability to handle mental health crises and provide better support to people in need.
