Kosciusko High School’s mascot Whippy has been nominated as one of Mississippi’s top five sports mascots by the website Si.com.
The online publication is conducting a poll to find the top mascot in every state, which will turn into a tournament to find the country’s best.
The post from Si.com on Whippy reads:
“Kosciusko isn’t the only high school in the country called the Whippets, but it’s the only one with a smiling physical whippet mascot named Whippy to whip the fans into a frenzy at sporting events.”
The other four mascots in the state recognized are the Picayune MaroonTide, St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws, Taylorsville Tartars, and the East Union Urchins.
It’s up to fans to determine which mascot is the best in the state. Whippet fans can vote in the poll as many times as they want through Monday, Jan. 6.
As of this post, Whippy holds a slight lead over the Urchins of East Union for first place.
