The Kosciusko Lady Whippet softball team is headed back to the state championship.
After defeating Ponotoc 4-0 on the road last Friday, the Lady Whippets won 5-2 Tuesday night to win the 4A North State title series two games to none.
The team will move on to play Lawrence County in the 4A State Championship series. Those games will be played at the University of Southern Mississippi Softball Complex.
Game one will be Thursday, May 10 at 4:00 pm. Game two is Friday, May 11 at 4:00 pm.
Game three, if needed, would be played Saturday, May 12.

The Lady Whippets play game two in the north half state series. The Lady Whippets and the lady Warriors were scoreless the first two innings of the game. The Lady Warriors were the first to put points on the board in the top of the third with two runs on two hits (0-2). The Lady Whippets were held scoreless in the bottom of the third. The Lady Warriors were held scoreless in the top of the fourth. The Lady Whippets break the ice with one run on two hits in the bottom of the fourth making the score (1-2).The Lady Warriors were held scoreless in the top of the fifth. The Lady Whippets took the lead in the bottom of the fifth with three runs on one hit making the score (4-2). The Lady Warriors went three up and three down in the top of the sixth. The Lady Whippets put one more on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth with one run on one hit making the score (5-2).The Lady Warriors failed to score or tie the game in the top of the seventh which ended with a Lady Whippets victory and ticket to the state championship round Saturday.
