Katy Jo Newman, a 2024 graduate of Ethel High School and Kosciusko-Attala Career Technical Center’s Educator Preparation program, has been awarded the prestigious Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) scholarship at Mississippi State University.
This highly competitive scholarship, is awarded to top students pursuing careers in education.
The METP program provides full financial support, including tuition, housing, and professional development opportunities, with the goal of preparing outstanding future educators for Mississippi classrooms.
“Katy Jo is an outstanding student with a true passion for education,” said Tessa Horn, Ed Prep instructor at Kosciusko-Attala CTC. “She has always shown dedication to education, leadership, and a natural ability to connect with students. I have no doubt she will make a lasting impact in the field of education.”
Newman joins a select group of scholars at Mississippi State University who will receive specialized training, mentorship, and field experiences to become innovative leaders in education.
