The future LV Hull Legacy Center in Kosciusko has been awarded another arts grant.
According to a Facebook post, center was awarded a Ruth Foundation for the Arts Core Grant.
An excerpt from the official website reads “the Ruth Foundation for the Arts (Ruth Arts) is dedicated to meeting the evolving needs and lived experiences of artists, communities, and arts organizations whose work is anchored by visual arts, performing arts, and arts education.”
In November, the LV Hull Legacy Center was awarded a $315,672 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission.
L.V. Hull proclaimed herself “The Unusual Artist.” She used everyday objects to create unique and colorful works of art, many of which she kept on display in her home and her front yard.
After Hull’s passing in 2008, much of her artwork was relocated. However, the Kohler Foundation recently worked to restore most of her pieces to be put on display once her home and the Legacy Center are completed.
Much of the Legacy Center will be located at the intersection of Allen and S Huntington Streets in Kosicusko. Multiple buildings there (pictured below) will be incorporated into the Legacy Center.
Plans for the Legacy Center include a display of Hull’s work, office space with upstairs residences, a pavilion for outdoor events, and an artist workshop.
