McAdams and Long Creek schools celebrate National Library Week 60th Anniversary

The National Library Week 2018 celebration marked the 60th anniversary of the first event, sponsored in 1958.

In recognition of National Library Week, McAdams High Library and Long Creek Elementary Library celebrated the 2018 theme, “Libraries Transform: Libraries Lead.”

Both libraries participated in a “Pages and More” celebration with the presentation of various recognition gifts and gift certificates.

McAdams High School

  • Demeria Moore: NLW Theme Winner—School & Community Libraries
  • Hanadi Hariri: Libraries Transform Back to Classics!” Winner
  • Vershante Malone: Teen Read! Award
  • Quevon Roby: Elect to Read! Winner
  • Ms. Samantha Myles: Caught You Reading! Classroom Award
  • Coach Carl Hathorn: Making Connections! Faculty Winner
  • Mrs. Jacqueline Sandifer: Libraries Lead! Appreciation Award

Long Creek Elementary School

  • *Stephanie Bush: Reading Counts! Winner
  • Nathan Donaldson: Libraries Transform! Elect to Read Winner
  • Mrs. Jasmine Ball: Homeroom—Library Circulation Winner
  • Ms. Darlisa Estes: Library Services Appreciation Award
  • Mr. Dietrich Harmon: Libraries Lead! Appreciation Award

In celebration of School Library Month, inspirational booklets from Guideposts Outreach were appreciated by McAdams and Long Creek’s Faculty and Staff.

National Library Month is a national observance throughout April that celebrates the contributions of the nation’s libraries.

Mrs. JoAnne McDonald, Librarian, appreciates Skylight Grill, Carmack Fish House, Outfielders Sports Grill, Claude Julians, RBR Men’s Clothing, Dakota Rose Boutique, Sullivans’ Pharmacy/Gifts, Pickles Pharmacy/Gifts, Attala Co-Op, Central Office Supply, and Patterson Jewelers as community businesses dedicated to the success of National Library Week in Attala County.
