The number of Mississippians injured in last weekend’s storms has risen to seven. That’s in addition to the 72-year-old Jasper County woman who was killed when a tornado destroyed her mobile home in Stringer. The victim identified as Sue Welborn. All of the injured were people in north Mississippi. MEMA says at least 274 homes were damaged, most of those in the northern counties, although a few were damaged in central Mississippi, mainly in Jasper and Smith counties.
The Jasper County storm was one of ten tornadoes confirmed so far from last weekend’s outbreak. The strongest were a couple of EF-3s which touched down in Tate, Marshall and Benton counties.
