Breezy 101’s Minute with the Mayor segment took home 1st place in the Public Affairs category at this year’s Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors contest.
Minute with the Mayor is a 5 to 8 minute live segment that airs on Breezy 101 during “Good Morning Kosciusko” the day following each meeting of the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen.
During the segment, Kosciusko Mayor Jimmy Cockroft recaps the highlights and major decisions from those meetings and also discusses other city events and projects.

The Public Affairs category at the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors contest goes to the news story, series of stories, or show that “demonstrates the ability of news reporting to provide outstanding service to the community.”
For this year’s entry, Boswell Media submitted 2018 Minute with the Mayor segments from Feb. 21, March 7, and April 8.
Riley presented the Public Affairs awards plaque to Mayor Cockroft Wednesday morning at Kosciusko City Hall.
“Congratulations to Breezynews and Breck,” said Cockroft. “I’m proud to be a part of Minute with Mayor. It’s a great way to share what’s going on with the people of Kosciusko.”
