Multiple Fires Reported Tuesday in Attala

Local emergency crews responded to several incidents across Attala County on Tuesday, March 18.

At 10:15 a.m., the Kosciusko Fire Department was called to Hickory Hills Dr. for a power line fire, but no flames were visible upon arrival. Kosciusko Water & Light handled the situation.

Later, at 3:18 p.m., the Attala County Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire on Hwy 35 N near Hesterville, with assistance from the MS Forestry Commission.

At 4 p.m., Kosciusko Police responded to a minor wreck near CVS after a driver’s foot slipped off the brake, causing a collision.

Kosciusko firefighters were called to a brush fire behind the Attala County Nursing Home at 5 p.m., but the fire was out upon arrival.

The Attala County Fire Department and Friendship Volunteers responded to a woods fire near Attala Rd. 2261 and Attala Rd. 3122 at 7:25 p.m. Crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
