National Day of Prayer held service at Redbud Springs Park (video)

Since 1952, the first Thursday in May has been a time when people all throughout the United States gather together “to turn to God in prayer and meditation,” on the National Day of Prayer.

Ministers, law enforcement officers, and other members of the community visited Red Bud Springs Park in downtown Kosciusko Thursday to observe a time of prayer and reflection.

The ceremony opened with the playing of a ceremonial horn followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Following the prayer, the crowd was then divided into smaller groups where local ministers led prayer for the specific areas of government, military, media, business, education, church and family.

Following the group prayer, Christ Cauthen of Kosciusko First Baptist Church closed the ceremony with a song.
