On Wednesday afternoon, August 14, an old store building on Hwy 43 South was completely destroyed by a fire. The building is located about a mile south of the Hwy 14. Firefighters from the Attala County Fire Department (ACFD), along with Carmack and Sallis Volunteers, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the building was fully engulfed in flames. The structure is a total loss, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, according to ACFD Chief Tim Cox.
