Todd Ables, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Kosciusko, was in Hattiesburg Wednesday, umpiring for the MHSAA softball state championships.

Ables, who has been officiating games for over 40 years, was the home plate umpire for Game 2 of the 2A Championship Game between Pisgah and East Union.

East Union won that game 11-3 to win its second straight state championship.

Throughout his officiating career, Ables has worked several state championships for the MHSAA and even more for the MAIS, in addition to working several Dixie Youth World Series.

Ables told BreezyNews that its possible he’ll be part of the umpiring crew for Saturday’s games, depending on how many of the championships series go to a Game three.
