Photos: Demolition begins on Strand Theater interior

Demolition has started on the interior of the Strand Theater in downtown Kosciusko.

Both The Strand, and the building next door that formerly housed the offices of The Star-Herald, are set to be the future home of the Mississippi Museum of the American Indian.

Too bad…the obvious Museum location in Kosciusko is the Courthouse.

But, it is a Courthouse and should be preserved as a Courthouse and County seat.

I agree. A courthouse should be just that and not a museum. I often thought the Strand would make a good performance venue if renovated, but now that Kosciusko has the Skipworth, I think the museum is going to be a great addition to Kosciusko. I’m also happy that the Strand is being renovated and not torn down!

Good to know. I know the museum is for Mississippi Indian art; however, I hope they have an a small area for companion pieces. I have collected Oklahoma Indian art for years and would glad to donate pieces.
