Students from the Kosciusko-Attala CTC Educator Preparation (Ed Prep) I and Health Science I programs recently achieved a significant milestone by earning their CPR certification at Baptist-Attala. This accomplishment highlights their dedication to acquiring essential life-saving skills that will benefit both their future careers and the community.

Under the instruction of Allison Schuler and Debbie Coleman, students participated in hands-on training sessions designed to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations. The certification course covered key aspects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including chest compressions, rescue breathing, and the proper use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Tessa Horn, Ed Prep Instructor at Kosciusko-Attala CTC, emphasized the importance of CPR certification for future educators.

“As teachers, our students will be responsible for the well-being of their students and colleagues. Having CPR certification not only makes them more prepared for the classroom but also enhances their employability,” she said.

Health Science Instructor, Amy Price, echoed the sentiment, stressing the value of CPR training in healthcare professions. “CPR is a fundamental skill for anyone entering the medical field. Our students now have the ability to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations, which could potentially save lives.”

Students expressed their enthusiasm about the training, recognizing the importance of being prepared for real-life emergencies. “Learning CPR was an eye-opening experience. I feel more confident in my ability to help someone in need,” said Sadie Wood, a Health Science student.
