It doesn’t matter which came first, the chicken or the egg. Mississippi farmers who produce both will share in about $23 million in federal coronavirus relief funds. Most of the money will go to 557 chicken growers who were excluded from previous pandemic programs. Egg producers will get the rest. Many of those farmers suffered losses when processing facilities cut back or suspended operations during the height of the pandemic.
