Reckless Driver Flees Traffic Stop Monday Night in Attala

Attala County Deputies responded to reports of a reckless driver on Hwy 12 W at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17.

The caller reporting the incident stated there appeared to be a dispute going on between the driver and passenger of the vehicle, and one of them was possibly holding a gun.

The vehicle, a blue pickup, was stopped by deputies on Hwy 12 near the VFW, where the female exited the vehicle. Shortly after, the male fled with two small children inside.

Authorities including MS Hwy Patrol, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, and Durant Police Department were alerted to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

Deputies briefly pursued the vehicle but later called off the chase.

It remains unclear whether the suspect or the vehicle was located.
