The Strand Theater, originally built in 1929, is undergoing extensive renovations.
Both The Strand, and the building next door that formerly housed the offices of The Star-Herald, are set to be the future home of the Mississippi Museum of the American Indian and Event Center.
Upgrades include concrete flooring for a solid foundation, improved accessibility with chair lifts and an elevator, and a concession area. Two floors of seating will be featured, with wood from original beams reused throughout the space.
