Roaming Cattle, Gas Leaks, Grass Fire, and More Thursday in Attala

Attala County emergency crews were busy with various calls throughout the day.

Deputies responded to Hwy 14 in Ethel just after midnight when a caller reported there were around 10 cows in the roadway. Deputies patrolled the area but found no cows.

The Kosciusko Fire Department and ATMOS addressed a gas leak at Campbell’s Motel and on N Natchez Street this morning.

Later in the morning, deputies worked a two-vehicle crash on Attala Road 4202, with no reported injuries.

At 12:30 p.m., the Attala County Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Attala Rd. 1151 that was quickly extinguished.


Attala Central Fire Department was called to a home on Attala Road 1202 just before 3 p.m. for a side-by-side on fire at a residence.  One vehicle under the carport of the home was scorched and the side-by-side was a total loss, but no one was injured and the home remained unscathed.

Deputies responded to an overturned log truck on Attala Rd. 3203 in the Carmack area just after 3 p.m. The truck was loaded with logs and the road was completely blocked when deputies arrived. The driver was not injured.
