School Bus Accident on County Road

At 3:54 pm Attala Deputies, MedStat EMS, Sallis Volunteers along with Attala Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a two vehicle MVA involving a school bus. The accident took place on Horne’s Grocery Road. The caller said the driver of the auto had a busted lip but the children were fine.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene and found a car had crashed into the rear of a loaded school bus.

Sheriff Tim Nail tells Breezy News that the school bus was stopped letting children off when it was struck from behind. No children were injured in the accident and were released to their parents on scene. The driver of the auto was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Nail said the auto sustained heavy front end damage was was towed from the scene. The bus sustained far less and was able to be driven from the accident scene.

The exact cause of the accident is not known at this time. The Attala County Sheriff’s Department will be in charge of the investigation.
