Two men are in custody after shooting an assault rifle at a vehicle in Philadelphia.
The incident happened Tuesday night (3/20/18) at Beacon Street and Poplar Avenue.
“Officers heard gun shots and responded to the area they thought the shots came from,” stated Philadelphia Police Chief Grant Myers.
A 911 call came in from a witness/victim stating gun shots were fired at his vehicle.
Shortly after officers responded, the suspects sped off and led police on a short car chase.
“Officers observed a black dodge leaving the area at a high rate of speed. A car chase occurred, and the suspects were taken into custody,” stated Chief Myers.
Darren McBeath and James Carter were charged with aggravated assault. McBeath was also charged with felony fleeing.
Video footage of the incident was captured on a near-by business security camera. Investigators recovered a glock handgun and Norinco SKS rifle from the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing. McBeath and Carter were transported to the Neshoba County Jail.
