On Sunday, October 20, 2024, a resident walking behind his home on Woodland Street discovered possible human skeletal remains and alerted authorities.
According to the Kosciusko Police Department, law enforcement secured the area, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) crime scene unit collected the remains on Monday.
The remains have been sent to the crime lab in Jackson for DNA testing to confirm whether they are human. Officials caution that the results could take several months.
