Sergeant Jaroderick Teague and Deputy Robert Overby of the Attala County Sheriff’s Office completed Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) on Friday, June 27, 2025.
The week-long program, led by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), focused on equipping law enforcement with the tools to effectively respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises.
The training included classroom instruction and role-playing scenarios to help officers recognize and appropriately handle various crisis situations.
CIT aims to improve safety and outcomes during encounters with individuals in mental distress.
The Sheriff’s Office plans to have all officers certified in CIT. More information about the program is available at nami.org.
