Boswell Media’s Mississippi Songwriter of the Year 2018 is coming to the historic square in downtown Kosciusko.
The premier songwriting competition in Mississippi will take place Saturday, June 16 at the Skylight Grill.
“We are so excited the 2018 Mississippi Songwriter of the Year coming to Kosciusko,” said Mayor Jimmy Cockroft. “As a site on the Mississippi Blues Trail, music is a rich part of our culture here and we are happy to host the best songwriters from our great state.”
The Mississippi Songwriter of the Year competition gives one lucky songwriter a chance to have their song professionally recorded and aired on the radio.
The top fifteen finalists will compete in front of an esteemed panel of judges, with the winner receiving an all expenses paid trip to Muscle Shoals, AL to have his or her song recorded and produced at the world famous Wishbone Studio.
“Winning this contest really could change your life.” said Boswell Media General Manager Melissa Townsend. “This is a chance to get your song in front of some of the most influential people in the music business.”
Doors will open at 5:00 pm the night of the event. The show will begin at 7:00 pm.
The deadline to apply for the contest is Monday, May 21.
