Attala County authorities are investigating a fatal mobile home fire that claimed two lives Thursday evening. The blaze occurred on December 5, 2024, on Attala Road 4171 near Attala Road 4216 at approximately 7:25 p.m.
First responders included the Attala County Fire Department, volunteer firefighters, EMS, and deputies. The home was fully engulfed in flames when authorities arrived at the scene.
Two bodies were discovered inside and will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for identification, a process that could take up to six weeks, according to Attala County Coroner Sam Bell. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
