Two local baseball players have been named to the Mississippi Coaches All-State Teams.
Kosciusko sophomore Rece Atkinson was named to the 4A All-State 2nd Team.
Atkinson helped lead the Whippets to the team’s second straight district championship this season. He finished his sophomore season with 38.1 innings pitched, 63 strikeouts, and a 2.73 ERA. Offensively, Atkinson batted .315 with 16 RBI, 3 triples, and 14 doubles.
Also, French Camp senior Ben Wright earned a spot on the 1A All-State 2nd team.
During his senior season, Wright finished offensively with a .416 batting average and 19 RBI. ON the mound, he went 6-3 with 38 innings pitched, 66 strikeouts, and a 1.47 ERA.
