Two Kosciusko Whippet football players signed to play with Mississippi community colleges Wednesday.
Defensive tackle Nicholas Mallet signed to play for Northeast Mississippi Community College.
A Region 4-4A All Division player, Mallet was one of the Whippets’ leading tacklers in 2018. He averaged 5.1 tackles per game for a total of 56, including 13 tackles for loss, for his senior season.
Also on Wednesday, tight-end, linebacker, and long snapper Kody Causey, son of KHS head football coach Kelly Causey, signed with Mississippi Delta Community College.
Causey, who earned Region 4-4A All Division honors, was also one of the leading tacklers for the Whippets last season, averaging 5 tackles per game for a total of 55 on the year.
Both Mallet and Causey were joined by their families and numerous friends at the signing, which took place at the Kosciusko High School library.
