Update: Body found in burned vehicle identified

The body found in a burned car in Scott County has been identified as a woman who had been reported missing.

Scott County Coroner Joe Bradford identified the body as Latasha Patrick Johnson of Forest.

At the time the car was found, Johnson’s family said it believed the body was hers. They recognized the car and said she disappeared on a Monday after dropping her kids off at school.

Authorities have not charged anyone in Johnson’s death. The cause of death has yet to be determined by the medical examiner’s office.

 

8-8: A body was discovered Tuesday inside a burned car north of Hillsboro Road in Scott County.

Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee says the body was discovered by a Bienville National Forest employee.

The body was so badly burned, officials were not able to tell the person’s race or gender.

Investigators said the car is a Ford registered in Leake County.
