Update: The victim in the shooting at Hannah Heights Apartments has been identified as Leortha Ashford, 42, of Attala County. He was pronounced dead at 10:04 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, at Baptist Hospital Attala Emergency Department.
Ashford’s body will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy according to Attala County Coroner Sam Bell.
The Attala County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident, and further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
A shooting occurred at Hannah Heights Apartments in Ethel around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, December 19.
A man sustained a gunshot wound, possibly to the chest, and was transported to the hospital, with reports suggesting he may be airlifted for further treatment.
