Update: A road in eastern Attala County is back open following a bridge replacement.
According to District Five Supervisor Brad Whittington, Attala Road 5001, as known as Upper Crossing Road, is completely open for traffic.
“I would also like to tell everyone that has been affected by the closure that we appreciate their patience while we strive to improve our county infrastructure,” Whittington told Breezy News.
The bridge replacement began in August of 2024.
August 2024: A section of a road in eastern Attala County is closed for a bridge replacement.
The bridge is located on Attala Road 5001, also known as Massey Crossing Road, approximately 1/4 mile south of Hwy 14.
A detour around the closed bridge/road will be on Attala Road 5105, which connects the southern end of road 5001 to Hwy 14.
According to District Five Supervisor Brad Whittington, the road will be closed for up to six months while the bridge is being replaced.
