Now you can keep up with weather in real time as it moves through Kosciusko with a new camera that’s been installed on the Breezy 101 radio tower.
The camera is a joint operation between Boswell Media and North Mississippi Storm Chasers, who provided the camera and installation.
The camera is located approximately 225 feet high on the Breezy 101 tower. Currently, the static camera is pointed southwest, overlooking Golf Course Road and Hwy 12. However, in the future, the camera will be able to pan and show a wider view of the area.
According to Stan Dorroh with North Mississippi Storm Chasers, the camera has a viewing range of 8 to 10 miles.
Boswell Media CEO Johnny Boswell said representatives from North Mississippi Storm Chasers approached him a few months ago about the possibility of putting a weather camera on the Breezy 101 tower.
“We are excited about this project,” said Boswell. “This will be an important tool to our news team when covering severe weather in the area. Plus, it gives the people of Kosciusko a look at the weather in real time so they can make informed decisions on their safety during storms.”
Other towers with weather cameras are located in Macon, Amory, and Adaton, with another planned to be installed in Ackerman.
Once the installation process of the camera is finalized, there will be a link located at BreezyNews.com where anyone can log in and see the view, as well as a link on the North Mississippi Storm Chasers website.
