The Kosciusko Whippet basketball team is off to one of its best starts in recent years.

On the season the team is 13-4 overall and 1-0 in Region 4-4A play. The lone Region victory was a thrilling 76-74 victory over archrival Louisville on Jan. 4.

The team also has a tournament championship under its belt this season. The Whippets swept through the JZ George Tournament undefeated in mid November.

Leading this year’s squad are senior guards Terry Skinner and O’Corya Forest.

Forest leads to the team in scoring with 16.2 PPG while Skinner puts in 10.2 PPG. Sophomore center Antonio Harmon averages 11.9 PPG and provides a big presence underneath the goal.

The Whippets will travel to New Hope Friday night before returning home Tuesday, Jan. 14 to host another rivalry game against the Leake Central Gators.

Thanks for showing some kind of love to the Basketball team, rather its old news or not. I know its late in the school year it should almost be playoff time, it’s no way KO has only played 17 games or are they left out of games like they are left out on here? I have got more coverage on them this year through Clarion Ledger and Rivals than the hometown news, just sucks that its like this, their the only sport left out of Whippet talk, I hope they go to the big house and everyone keep overlooking them in that process, I also wish a great season to come for the Whippets football that I know you all will cover all year.
