Whippets Fall to Trojans

The Kosciusko Whippets Baseball team playing 4A Region 4 High School baseball tonight at home on Whippet Field hosting the Trojans of New Hope from Columbus. The Whippets are 11-9 overall this season and 4-3 in the district while the Trojans are ranked the #2 baseball team in the state in 4A and are the district champions coming into this game with a 19-4 overall season record and 7-0 in the conference. The first pitch of the game resulted in a home run for New Hope and one more run would score in the top of the first for a two run lead for the Trojans. The Whippets stepped up to the plate and answered the Trojans in the bottom of the 1st inning, scoring three runs to take a one run lead in the game, 3-2. After a scoreless 2nd inning, the Trojans had another lead off home run in the top of the 3rd inning to tie the game at 3-3. Another home run with two runners on base for the Trojans added three runs in the top of the 4th to give them a 6-3 lead in the game. The top of the 5th inning was a big inning for the Trojans, scoring another six runs that included a two run homer, giving them a 12-3 lead over the Whippets. One more run scored for the Trojans in the top of the 7th giving them a ten run lead in the game and the Whippets failed to add any runs in the bottom of the inning giving the Trojans the win by the final score of 13-3. The four seniors on the Whippets roster – Ethan Gowan, Walker Yuille, Clark Dean, and Logan Fancher were named tonight’s Autumn Ridge Dental Players of the Game.
