Kosciusko High School held its pep rally today at the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home.
The Big Red Band and the cheerleaders took turns playing songs and leading cheers to veterans in attendance.
Players, coaches, cheerleaders and band members stayed after the pep rally to eat with and visit with veterans.
Food and drink for the event were provide by Ivey Mechanical and Redbud Insurance.
The Whippets will continue to honor veterans throughout the season by wearing service emblem stickers on their helmets.
Each sticker represent a specific veteran close to the player or a veteran from Kosciusko/Attala County.
The team has released the following statement along with a list of names of veterans being honored.
“With appreciation of ALL our service men and women, this year the Kosciusko Football team is recognizing and honoring those that have served and continue to serve our great country. Each player was given opportunity to recognize and honor a family member, acquaintance, or others by wearing a decal reprensenting the service man or womans branch seal. Each home game, a portion of list will be recognized.”
