The Kosciusko Whippets High School Baseball team returned to Whippet Field tonight to play a non-conference baseball game hosting the Morton High School Panthers. The Whippets entered tonight’s game with a 7-7 overall season record while the Panthers entered the contest 10-6 overall on the season. Each team scored one run in the first inning but the Panthers broke the tie in the 2nd scoring two runs while keeping the Whippets off the scoreboard in the bottom of 2nd to take a two run lead, 1-3. The 3rd inning belonged to the Whippets, after the defense shut down the Panthers in the top of the inning, the offense scored 4 runs in the bottom of the inning to take a two run lead in the game, 5-3. The Whippets scored another run in the 4th inning to go up by three runs, 6-3. Another big inning for the Whippets in the bottom of the 5th, scoring four runs to increase their lead to seven runs, 10-3. Three more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning by the Whippets ended the game early due to the mercy rule winning the game by 10 runs, 13-3 to improve their overall season record to 8-7. Evan Scott was named tonight’s Autumn Ridge Dental Player of the game.
