On Tuesday morning, the Attala County Fire Department and Sallis Volunteers responded to a rekindled woods fire along Highway 12 West. The fire, originally a controlled burn, spread out of control, burning approximately 10 acres, according to Attala County Fire Chief Tim Cox. The Mississippi Forestry Commission was called in to dig a fire lane to prevent further spread.
Later in the evening, Kosciusko first responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 12 East near Valero. Injuries were reported, but their extent is unclear. Both vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the scene.
