The Kosciusko Attala Partnership (KAP), the Leake County Economic Development Association, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and the Winston County Economic Development District Partnership and Central Electric Power Association collaborated to create a key economic development tool for the region.
The Attala County Workforce Analysis has been compiled to give employers and potential investors a better picture of what type of workforce is available in Attala and surrounding counties. The analysis was presented to local leaders on Thursday, April 5 at the Skylight Grill in Kosciusko by Dr. Sharon Younger. Younger is President and founder of Younger Associates, LLC, an economic research and strategic planning firm that provides services to businesses, economic development organizations and transportation agencies.
“The final analysis provides our community and its leaders valuable information to help better understand and preserve our workforce, while looking at specific growth industries to provide additional opportunities for Kosciusko and Attala County,” Darren Milner, Executive Director Kosciusko Attala Partnership.
The study includes a labor supply survey focusing on working-age people via brief (approximately two minutes) personal interviews that were collected at numerous local retail sites. The analysis surveyed over 500 local residents.
With the data from the survey and regional and national resources, Younger Associates complied a workforce profile of the region, including bench-marking to the nation and the state.
The Workforce Analysis includes a labor shed determination, commute patterns, educational attainment, economic base, a talent pipeline and other educational data. For more information about either the survey or the study, contact KAP at (662) 289-2981.
