Appeal Denied: Holmes Co. Man Who Killed Aunt Stays in Prison

HOLMES COUNTY, Miss.–A man who shot his aunt in the chest with a shotgun will stay in prison. Kenneth Williams lost his appeal this week, with a rejection from the Mississippi Court of Appeals.
Williams’ aunt, Faye Ann Noel, murdered during the heat of a family fight in 2014 in Holmes County, was a former warden at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.
His attorneys argued his sentence should be overturned because testimony came from Capt. Sam Chambers with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Dept., about what relatives told him about the shooting, which the defense argued was hearsay and should not have been allowed.
The Court of Appeals did not agree.
Williams is doing life for the killing.
