Honoring Marty Gamblin’s Memory:
PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–Marty Gamblin, the man who is known throughout Mississippi for his involvement in the music business, has died.
Music business executive Arden Barnett posted the news about Gamblin Thursday morning.
“God took the wrong person from our world yesterday,” write Barnett. “Marty Gamblin, thank you for 30 years of the best advice, best laughter, best hugs. I miss you already.”
Gamblin, a native of Philadelphia, participated in several Boswell Media projects over the years.
“It was a privilege to work with Marty over several decades,” said Johnny Boswell, CEO of Boswell Media. “I spoke with Marty last Saturday and we reminisced about Jim Weatherly, his great friend and music icon.”
He is also known widely for helping start Alan Jackson’s career and having been involved in many others, including Glen Campbell and Jim Weatherly, the Mississippi native known for hit songs like “Midnight Train to Georgia” and other collaborations with Gladys Knight.
Gamblin has a Mississippi Country Music Trail marker in his hometown of Philadelphia.
