Breck Riley Radio Personality of the Year MAB Entry
There are not many people on the radio in Mississippi, or anywhere for that matter, that embody the radio personality better than Breck Riley.
Breck has been the morning drive host on Breezy 101 – WLIN-FM (AC format) for six years. The show airs weekday mornings from 6:00 – 9:00 am. This year, Breck brought a more personal touch to the airwaves by rebranding the show as “The Breckfast Show.”
By bringing back “Minute with the Mayor” with Kosciusko mayor Jimmy Cockroft, Breck keeps his audience informed on board meetings and other city business. That segment airs two times a month.
Other guests appearing on the radio with Breck this year were:
- Jason White – Speaker PRO Temp of MS House of Representatives
- Steve Azar – Country music artist and Music/Culture Ambassador of Mississippi
- Todd Tilghman – Winner of NBC’s “The Voice.”
- Gray Wallace – Baptist Medical Center Chief of Staff
- Darren Milner – CEO of Kosciusko Attala Partnership
Breck also works closely with local schools to highlight area athletic teams and top students. Valedictorians and salutatorians from Kosciusko and Ethel High Schools appeared with Breck on the radio this year to speak on graduating during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Additionally, Breck was invited to speak to Digital Media students at the Kosciusko Attala Career Tech Center.
After testing positive for COVID-19 just after Thanksgiving, Breck refused to take time off, so he set up a studio in his kitchen and continued to broadcast The Breckfast Show during his quarantine.
In addition to his morning show work, Breck serves as news director, sports play-by-play commentator and video producer for Kosciusko Whippet football broadcasts on Breezy 101/YouTube, and manages the BreezyNews.com webpage and social media accounts.
