Taylor Casey

Candidate for

Chancery Clerk of Attala County

I would first like to thank the citizens of Attala County for their support in both the Democratic primary and runoff elections. I truly appreciate each and every vote I received in the August elections and am grateful to have received the Democratic nomination for Chancery Clerk of Attala County.  I look forward to continuing my campaign as I ask for your support and vote in the upcoming general election on November 5th.

For those of you who do not know me, I am a lifelong resident of Attala County.  I am the son of Rhonda and Paul Mink of McCool and Cindy and Danny Casey of the Center Community. My grandparents are Mildred Casey, the late Joe D. Casey, and the late Billie Jean and Eugene Bailey. I am married to the former Hollee Cheek, and we are active members of Kosciusko First United Methodist Church.

I am a graduate of both Kosciusko High School and Mississippi State University where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and a Master of Business Administration.

I began my professional career with the Mississippi Association of Supervisors, assisting the staff with communication with and training for county supervisors and other government officials, as well as attending legislative committee meetings. I then began working at the Mississippi State University Extension Center for Governmental Training and Technology. My duties there included providing technical assistance and training to both elected and appointed local government officials from all over the state.

Currently I am employed with Mississippi State University Extension as the Attala County Extension Agent and County Coordinator. I work with local organizations, schools, and all citizens of Attala County to provide educational and training opportunities to help individuals make informed decisions about their economic, social and cultural well-being.

I have served the citizens of Kosciusko as Ward 1 Alderman since 2016. In this role I have done my best to provide positive and proactive leadership to the citizens of Kosciusko. My fellow aldermen and I, the Mayor, the City Clerk, and all other employees of the City of Kosciusko work together to provide services and amenities to the citizens of Kosciusko, always mindful of the city budget and all available resources.

I believe in service to others and that investing time in the community is one way make improvements. I am currently active in several community and civic organizations including the Kosciusko Lions Club, Keep Kosciusko Beautiful Committee, Attala County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and the Attala County ASPIRE team.

The responsibilities of the Chancery Clerk are very specifically defined. The position of Chancery Clerk does not have the authority to determine county projects or to designate funds for specific projects. The Chancery Clerk is the county auditor, county treasurer, custodian of our public land records, clerk of the Chancery Court, executive assistant to the County Board of Supervisors, and steward of our citizens’ hard-earned tax dollars.  Both my education and work experience have prepared me well to serve in this vital county position.  I pledge to work within the parameters of the Chancery Clerk’s duties to provide transparent and responsible leadership with fiduciary and legal accountability to the citizens of Attala County.

Thank you for your time and I ask for your support and your vote on November 5th.
