Heat Stress Increasing Next Week

A chance of rain today will help to hold the heat stress in check in this part of central Mississippi.  But by Tuesday, we could be seeing heat index readings of 105-106 across the local area.

Fire Danger Increasing This Weekend

A combination of breezy conditions and low humidity could lead to wildfires getting out of control this weekend.  The National Weather Service says extra caution is advised with any open burning.

City of Kosciusko increasing pay for volunteer firemen

Wildfire Danger Increasing In Mississippi

The National Weather Service has raised the wildfire danger in Mississippi a level, now calling it an "elevated threat".  It says open burning is being discouraged through Friday because dry and warmer conditions and gusty winds could lead to fires getting out of control.
