Miss. Vetereans Memorial Cemetery Named to List of Favorites

NEWTON, Miss.–If you’d like to spend Memorial Day remembering the people who died for our freedom, you may consider some time at the Miss. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton.

According to a survey of more than 3,000 Americans by Choice Mutual, a life insurance company specializing in final expenses, the cemetery is a favorite.

It was named number 36 on the list of veterans cemeteries people would consider visiting,

Number one and number two were Arklington Nation Cemetery and Gettysburg, respectively. So, Mississippi’s contribution to resting places for our most honored, is in good company.

“Serving veterans from the central and northern regions of the state, this newer cemetery is simple, peaceful, and dignified. The red-brick ceremonial building and gently sloping landscape make it a quiet place of reflection year-round, but especially poignant on Memorial Day,” read a description published along with the list.
