WASHINGTON-Mississippi’s disaster declaration, requested by Gov. Tate Reeves, was approved Friday, according to a post from both Pres. Trump and Gov. Reeves.

Mr. Trump said $39.1 million is on the way to Mississippi to help with needs caused by the winter storm, which affected areas like Attala and Holmes counties.

“I just got off the phone with a great friend of the people of Mississippi- President Donald J. Trump,” said Reeves.
“He told me he approved my Disaster Declaration request, that he loved the people of Mississippi, and will be with us all the way. With his approval, Mississippi will be able to continue our response efforts and better help Mississippians recover.
I am incredibly grateful for President Trump’s friendship and our entire state is grateful to him for quickly approving my request.”
It was not immedicately made clear how the money would be spent and how central Mississippi may benefit.

Alcorn County and the surrounding counties have been deeply impacted by the Winter Ice Storm “Fern.” Everyone has felt the effects and is now trying to recover from this devastating winter ice storm. Very grateful, Tate Reeves, for what you are doing for us, and very grateful for President Trump for what he is doing. I lost count dealing with the casulaties I last heard it was at a staggering 21, and haven’t heard anything else about it. Do you have the full count of who has passed away? Is my respectful question. I hope to see the 39.1 be used to bring mending and healing for us. I live in Alcorn County. Which, sadly, was not handled the way it should have been, long story. Hoping to see the light at the end of the tunnel with this. We lost a lot of food and other items, and we had no heat for 8 almost 9 days. I couldn’t care less about the lights, but the cold was brutal and painful. I am praying for us all. God bless 🙂
