The Kosciusko Whippets girls and boys basketball teams wrapped up Region 4-4A District Tournament play Friday night, Feb. 13, with strong performances that earned both squads favorable positioning heading into the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.
Girls Claim No. 2 Seed, Set to Host Clarksdale
The Lady Whippets came up just short in the district championship game, falling to Louisville 44-43 in a tightly contested battle. Despite the narrow loss, Kosciusko secured the No. 2 seed from Region 4 and will host Clarksdale in the first round of the MHSAA 4A playoffs.
Tipoff is set for Monday, Feb. 16, at 6:00 p.m. at Kosciusko High School.

Boys Repeat as District Champs, Earn No. 1 Seed
On the boys’ side, Kosciusko captured the Region 4-4A District Tournament Championship for the second straight year, defeating Yazoo City 55-43 Friday night. The victory earned the Whippets the No. 1 seed from Region 4 in the MHSAA 4A playoffs.
Kosciusko will host Senatobia in the first round of the playoffs Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 6:00 p.m.

With both teams opening the playoffs at home, Kosciusko fans will have two opportunities early next week to support the Whippets as they begin their postseason runs.
