A major sewer infrastructure project targeting the northern portion of Kosciusko is expected to begin soon following action taken by city leaders.

Mayor Tim Kyle announced during Tuesday night’s Board of Aldermen meeting that the city has selected a contractor for a federally funded sewer line inspection project supported through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

The project will focus on areas north of Knox Road, where sewer lines will be inspected using video technology to identify damaged or deteriorating sections.

Once problem areas are located, repairs will be completed to improve system reliability and reduce the risk of future failures.

A contractor based in Birmingham, Alabama, was selected as the lowest qualified bidder after meeting federal requirements for the project.

City officials said a pre-construction meeting is expected soon, with work beginning shortly afterward.
