The Kosciusko Fire Department responded to two separate fire incidents at Parkway Plaza within hours of each other Sunday night into early Monday morning.
Just before 7 p.m. on May 3, firefighters were dispatched to reports of smoke in the Parkway Plaza area. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the rear of a building.
According to KFD Chief Duane Burdine, vagrants had gained access to the structure. Reportedly, a large amount of trash was found in the building and had caught fire. Damage to the building was reported as minor, though the smoke was significant.
Firefighters returned to the area at 4:19 a.m. Monday for a dumpster fire at Parkway Plaza. The fire is believed to have been caused by the same individuals and was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported in either incident.
