Although a heat advisory hasn’t been posted for this area yet, it’s likely to happen before the weekend is over. For today, afternoon highs in this part of central Mississippi will be in the lower 90s, climbing to the middle 90s on Sunday with heat indices approaching 105. And it gets even worse next week. Highs in the upper 90s are expected Monday and Tuesday with Monday’s heat index ranging from 106 in Kosciusko to 107 in Philadelphia and Carthage and 109 in Durant. Tuesday, the heat index could climb to 110 areawide.
